looks like i'm going to have to alter the frame mountings, and use the bike swinging arm ,in order to have suspension, otherwise it could result in engine, gearbox being shook to bits.

Hi,
Some years back, I completed a 2CV trike, on which the original
builder had run out of time and/or inspiration and that didn't have
any suspension either.
It handled well, unless you hit a large pothole at speed, when
things could become just a wee bit wobbly... ;)
If I understand correctly, isn't it common practice not to have
suspension on trikes, though?

As Russell says, it would be a good idea to park the engine and
gearbox on flexible mountings, even if just to isolate the frame
from any engine based vibration, although the 2CV lump is much
smoother than most old Brit bikes.
Would that be a pre-unit Triumph hiding in plain view
on your bench?

ken.

ooooh! it's not for me, it's for my old man. He's recently bought a 1967 tiger 90 & although the front brake's be re-lined & has a new cable it's still only borderline when he goes 2's up with the old dear  (insert jokes here!)

the drum he's got at present is a 7" but an 8" would probably be better and he'd just have the rim re-laced. The bike is very tidy so ideally the TLS would be in good nick too. ;)

Hi Batavus,
probably heading for a hiding by trying to upload a picture, but here goes anyhow.

After I parted ways with the owners, they managed not only to wreck its engine,
but also let it catch fire.
I guess they earned their 'Dangerous Brothers' title...

thats a fairly tidy trike , i see you've used the whole suspension unit,i had that in mind ,but felt it was too bulky,so i cut it off at the hubs.
but yours is tidy enough.

I know this is an old topic and the op hasnt been on for a while but does anyone know if he finished it? using the bike swingarm for the suspension wouldnt really work as it wouldnt allow the back wheels to move in relation to each other. you'd just have a springy hinge in the middle.
Interesting trike there Ken. very short wheelbase. wheely fun.
