 Re: 1955 Traction Avant 11cv
Question I have just had my 5 wheels painted after I had them sandblasted. The sandblasting revealed small indentations caused by rust over the years (pitting). The wheels were painted with anti rust, primer and the final coat. I was expecting them to be smooth like new specially as I am paying €350 for the 5 wheels which is expensive in my book. Am I expecting too much here Also, I think the colour is wrong (I have not seen them in the flesh yet). I asked for AC126 Gris Perle and this is definitely not that - again what do you think. i don't know about the colour, but there is a primer I used for some battered pieces of my van , which fills in the rust-pittings . Sort of filler and primer in one.

It is ColorMatic 1K filler/primer, it is the professional line of Motip products. http://www.colormatic.be/index.phpon the spray-can I have , it says filler / primer, but I can't find this on the website .It only says Primer or Filler.

 Re: 1955 Traction Avant 11cv
Next time you filler them yourself then sand them down, repeat this 3 or 4 times then they are smooth and you can bring them to the painter and he needs only to finish them..... Or let the painter filler it, you sand it down and he only n eeds to finish it... For French people these are old rims for an old car so they don't need to be as good as you think they would get... Do you get it....

Yep - but the excessive price was due to them being old. i.e. I could have taken them to be powder coated for €100 less but wanted a pro to make the effort to do a proper job - I will tell him tomorrow

 Re: 1955 Traction Avant 11cv
I just confronted the boss of the spray place I used for my wheels. I have used them before for some panel work and it was OK but I think the limit of their skills. I wanted the wheels looking good, I understood them to be rough but accepted the high price of €70 per wheel as I assumed he was a professional and would fill, smooth and paint them. The spare I think (now looking at it) is beyond repair and I would have expected his professionalism to tell me this - Instead of painting them (paint over sand from the sandblasting, paint lumps I could scratch off with a fingernail) and saying, these are OK ...yes?? Big argument, lots of swearing and threw his cash at him (as he was grabbing the wheels out of my hand). Is there none who takes pride in there work anymore - I have NOT found a decent French paint shop yet, I got fucked over by the one who did my 4L. TOOOOOSSSSSSEEEERRRRS!!!!

Sorry I hate to say it but... 1-0 for the painter..... he's got his money and thats the only thing which counts for him, swearing or not..... you never go to him again, so what; up to the next (foreign) costumer, doing exactly the same..... thing. Another one bites the dust.....sorry...
