Picked up, a very little cost, a front bench seat frame from a club member a little while ago and started to refurb it ready for installation:

Yesterday I gave it a very thorough service, today I have given it a very thorough clean. Off to Wales in it tomorrow for a few days over Easter.

Had an issue with the 2CV earlier: was out in the sticks and left it parked up for around 15 mins, drove down the road and it was coughing and spluttering crazily. It quickly recovered so carried on. A few miles further on it just cut out and was dead, no power at ignition. Had a quick look around under the bonnet and nothing obvious, so checked the back of the ignition barrel and two cables were not fully pushed in place. Once fully pushed back on the fault was cured.

Tie some tie-raps around the connectors to prevent from happening again, new rubber tubes could help as well.

I had an "open top" run in Derbyshire myself yesterday [a 25 mile run from Rotherham to Castleton].......I spent the night in Castleton and drove home this morning .....

Great day for open top driving so decided to leave the Evoque at home and thrash the bejesus out of it across the Peak District to see a customer north of Sheffield - great fun and, my, Mintex pads smell a lot when hot but they don't half still keep braking without fading even when given some proper punishment -.....

.... @Nelsthebass .....may I suggest that next time you go that way you take the "Strines Road" [apols if you know of it already] ......its an 11mile long unclassified [but tarmac'ed] road leading from near the Ladybower Res. [A57] to the Stocksbridge [north of Sheff.] bypass [A616] .....its my favourite 8-) road .......[both in my 2CV and on my motorcycles].....there are some very challenging corners & gradients on it.

best regards
T. ;)

Terry ....that's exactly the road I used - I love it for all those reasons - the hairpins are fun in 2CV on the ragged edge! Got a lot of bemused looks/frowns from walkers as I blasted along flat out!
Today, I've taken things a little easier and refurbished the front seats - stripped them down and wanged them in the washer - needed two washes as one of the covers has degraded its internal foam to dust but the other was fine - Tip - buy new foam from Dunelm a very reasonable £9 per seat plus some left over to pad out the rears if needed.

Went to visit my Dad in hospital and as I left a Nurse came and asked me if I had a set of jump leads (she had left her lights on this morning and the battery was flat) I realised I'd left them in my 'modern' car, but there was a 2CVer local (Kev with the Dyane "Ria") I rang him, and he dropped a set over and between us we got her on her way home.

Did a few touch ups on the paint and can see how much the rest of the car has faded! Out with the T Cut later then.
