602cc/25hp Ami 6 engines (looking at the airfilter) .... Nice find... one of the finest engines to power an A-type... (not for speed but cruising along)

Thrashed the bejesus out of it up the M6 today to Settle - door to door in 2 hours and 110 miles and 40 of those are on A, B and Minor roads - steady 70 on the motorway - though why is it that some people can't abide to be overtaken by a 2CV and have to prove that a) they can speed up alongside you or b) have to thrash past you after you have overtaken them! 30 years ago my wife used to say I was paranoid about people doing that but I wish I had a dash cam today to prove that muppets do just that.....

Post Re: What did you do with your A Series today?
Recently my old man has had a new boss start at his work, in a 'getting to know each other' kind of chat my father mentioned having had a few 2cvs down the years. His new boss recounted a story of coming down the M20 last year and seeing a 2cv behind him in the outside lane. He said he was quite surprised as it was going at quite a rate, in his words. He was more surprised when he noticed the RH indicator flashing and it catching him up. Apparently my dads new boss couldn't accelerate as there were several cars in front of him, so he had to move over and let this 2cv past. As the conversation went on it transpired the 2cv driver then tailgated and flashed two other cars 'intimidating them' out of the way too, then buggered off into the distance. The boss man then mentioned that it was 'Yellow, with white wheels and it had odd rectangle lights on it'. Turns out, basically that it was me. My dad actually rung me up and gave me a bollocking for embarrassing him. How I was to know some retard doing 75mph in the fast lane with all his kerb crawling slowcoach chums would then become my old mans boss 6 months later is beyond me, and why dad chose to let on that it was me (therefore embarrassing himself apparently) is a mystery, but the moral of the story is that a 2cv is quite capable of making its presence felt on motorways if you want it to. I refuse to be bullied by other motorists because they percieve my car to be slower than it is.

 I'm not sure that the journey isn't a little overrated and they all have webbed fingers up here anyway!

I pushed mine half out of the garage so that I had some space to work in (with the two pushbikes relegated to the patio now that Spring is in the air); spent two hours clearing tools away and putting 2CV spares into boxes; then rolled the van back in and shut the door
