I always seem to be going to Bricorama when using the little van these day. Managed to get some cheap ply so worth it this time.

Drove out of the drive to find I had no brakes at all. A frantic pumping action and all was well. There is no leak but I must be getting air in somewhere. :?: :?:

Otherwise running like a dream....

Today I have been mostly spending all of it putting 9:1 pistons on the original engine, putting it back together again then taking it apart again as I had forgotten to put the bloody engine shrouds on before I put the manifold back on! Then took the spare engine out of the car in preparation of putting the original back in tomorrow and put new discs on one side before light stopped play......Christ, I'm knackered....a bit of football watching and a beer beckon!

Carried on from where I left off last night - Put on the other new disc then putting in new pads and then finally putting the re-vamped engine back in with the help of my long suffering other half - or try to, again and again and again! There was no way the fucking thing was mating up to the gearbox - so in and out and try to move the shaft a little to line up but NO FUCKING WAY would the bastard go on. So had a look inside the shaft hole and nothing looks out of place, so after about the 30th fail, I took the clutch off the spare engine and BINGO! It goes on fine but when I take the one off the revamped engine it doesn't go on - the splines are all turned over on the inner side nearer the engine.....so changed clutches and on it goes first time...GRRRR. Finished off rebuilding the car around it, including a new electronic ignition and then fired it up and started up fine - phew! Few installation miles, puffs a little smoke at first after an over run but brakes are great now and seems to pull well and now needs a good run.

He is being worked hard in this sunny weather - when out to the "Brits" classic car meet in Blajan and met up with a bunch of foreigners, some with old cars some not.
Met an English guy with an Ami 8 who has quite a few and just about to get an Ami 6. Says he is going to put the Ami 6 body onto an Ami 8 chassis - sound interesting.

Little van performed well though up and down the hilly countryside, only cased a couple of tail backs
