This evening sees the local 'Up Helly Aa' in Uyeasound, and as it's such a nice day today, I'll be driving the five or six miles down there in the 2CV. :-)

Fitted a new crossbox and swan neck today. The old cross box had a weld failed where the exit pipe mounts and the swan neck had a nice long split in it about 3 or 4 inches long!
New bits went in easily. Remade most of the exhaust joints. Can't believe how much quieter it is now. Must have had a couple of dodgy joints too.

Fitted one of the replacement engines I got off of Ebay so that I can rebuild the original that I suspect has an eroded head - quick vid of first start up - I suspect it has bottom end damage as bangs around like feck when hard revved...but will do whilst I fit the heads off the other engine I got and fit higher compression barrels.....

Had a thoroughly enjoyable Puddleducks Valentines convoy to the diving museum at Lee-on the-Solent, warm unbroken sunshine all day and even had the roof open part of the way. Excellent turnout (about 40 people) in various cars. Sorry, no pics but I expect some will turn up somewhere!

Nels,
did you check the timing on that spare engine?
If it's wildly advanced, they can sound very harsh on hard acceleration...

Rattled it off to Portsdown hill to go Puddleduck ballarding down to the seafront @ Stokes bay in the glorious sunshine 8-)
Blew the rear crankshaft oil seal & wot sounds like a bearing in the gearbox in the process. Bum
So today it's pull it all apart again, what fun!

File comment: First to arrive! With a soggy back seat as the frost on the roof melted & dripped all over it, duh!

Went down to hospital for my 6 monthly check up. Lungs getting stronger - extra .5litre capacity since August 2013. Did high speed run on way home as bored as usual.

One other thing - does everybodys A series get effected by cross wind - more than modern vehicles?

Oh yes. It's because they're so much lighter, I think.
