Mark,
I did notice, in one of the photographs you've posted recently, that there was some rust staining on the n/s headlamp bowl which wasn't as obvious when you called here on your way north.

You'd be right there - it's been a ferocious attack! But then, it was the middle of Winter; it rained every day (not always for long), snow, hail, sleet - the wind was incredible :o and I did deliberately trundle along the flooded coastal roads  I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday (even though at times it was testing) and I am guilty of giving Hugo a bit of a hard time It was always the intention to replace some parts after I returned home, lamp bowls included

Here we are at the beach...

Come back in summer. LOL.

Was a nice day in Shetland yesterday, was dry and there was no wind!! I used the 2CV to go to work and had the hood half open for the four mile drive in.

Firstly, went into our local Morrisons for some provisions - mainly Beer - with the roof fully open - a little cool but was very pleasant.
Then changed the gearbox oil - a little worrying that significantly less filled up the 900ml I had taken from the bottle to fill it up. Anyway, seems quiter and less whiny so hopefully not any damage done by running with low level. After that, started stripping down the least good looking engine I got yesterday to get to the cylinder heads. Both dismantled easily and look very tidy with no sign of erosion - dependant on which of the current running engines heads have gone, think these will good donors.

Got the spark plug thread insert replaced today. The chap who did it is a local thread repair specialist. Done as a favour after I repaired his lathe!

Cheers, surprised there was anything to be ruined in the first place  anyway, better than sitting at home with a flue.

February has so far been fairly kind to us up here in Shetland. Yesterday was by far the best day for weeks so I got the 2CV out for a spare hour I had and took a drive around the northern half of Unst. Whilst out I passed the only other classic car on the island, the Morris Minor convertible I've mentioned in previous posts. It's the first sighting of it since about October, which just shows how nice it was. Cloudy and showery today but looking promising again tomorrow. Folklore states that a good February will lead to a crap spring. Hope that's not true. Lol

Been trying to upload a photo taken yesterday but keeps failing.
