Mine only leaks when the vent flap is shut my theory is because the metal is so thin it bends slightly and runs down to the middle and leaks in...

After having bought myself an ignition strobe last week, I set to and carried out a service. Valve clearances, carb float levels, plugs and timing. It was the first time I'd used a strobe to set the timing properly. I'd seen it done before on my car but this was the first time I'd done it on my own. It wasn't too bad actually. Runs perfectly now, well almost. I only managed to change one spark plug. The insert I had fitted last time came out with the plug! Other side was fine though. Getting it sorted this weekend.

Get them so you can do it with your finger and thumb, makes height adjustment a breeze!

Did the usual running kids to school etc but on way home got caught by strong cross wind and almost ended up in the ditch. F--k it was close, changed trousers afterwards

new mot for D*lly today must have done something right, new front knife edges and suspension eyes certainly make the suspension work better, like floating down river, not saying the car handles like a boat, might check the anchors sorry brakes.

Put him away in the garage; reversed in, as usual, then realised that to do the work that I had planned I should have just driven him in  (the front end will be coming off for a bit of a spruce up after spending all of last month travelling up to - and staying in - Shetland; it's taken its toll!) :o
And Cosette now sits on the driveway, still broken :( She has been tucked away since the beginning of January but started well and ran OK while I shuffled the two vehicles around
Hopefully we can sort her gaiter problem next week and have another look at the troublesome handbrake :x ...then perhaps we can all enjoy some happy Spring time 2CVing :D

Mark,
I did notice, in one of the photographs you've posted recently, that there was some rust staining on the n/s headlamp bowl which wasn't as obvious when you called here on your way north.

Mind you, the 'salt spray test' is a standard method of assessing the durability of coatings... ;)

Went to the NEC in Dasher today and then onto a customer in Coventry - variety of roads including M6 and happily holds 70mph on the Motorway - measured a true 46mpg brimming tank. Only downside was the so and so stopped and wouldn't start again near Tamworth, after a lot of stop start driving - in outside lane at lights on A5 in rush hour! Eventually got going after checking 1) I had petrol and 2) leads were all properly connected - think the carb is either full of crap or set up is wrong, as it doesn't idle too well or that the coil is fubar'd.
