If I would want a race-car, I would buy a proper-one. Another plastic sausage , even worse that Burton or Le Patron etc..

 Re: Leboncoin/eBay finds
Maybe the exhausts could be better routed but it looks like just me impressed with what some people can achieve.

 Re: Leboncoin/eBay finds
Anybody could 'achieve' that, it's just a simple grp moulding. Im a total idiot as many here will vouch but I've built grp moulds before) It's not clever, it's just an absolute crying shame they're ripping up useful cars to make this crap. I'd be more impressed if they did a proper job and built a chassis and suspension for it, based around an engine and drivetrain from a sustainable source (ie, a factory) that made some real power (ie more than 25bhp).

But you only have to creosote the chassis to avoid rot

 Re: Leboncoin/eBay finds
I'm going to stick my neck out and say I like that, it's a reasonably nice shape apart from the little corners at the back, presumably to cover the ends of the chassis legs. Sure it's not rear wheel drive and powered by some DOHC racing 4-pot, and maybe 29bhp is a little insufficient, but who hasn't looked at one of those French, Panhard engined, MEP racers and wanted a go? There is stuff being built that looks like this, but with different drivetrains and bespoke chassis, we just don't mention them here because there's no 2cv connection. But supposing you were happy with 29bhp then why not use the 2cv platform, we all know how good it is. And I disagree that usable cars would get broken to build something like this, we all know the ridiculous prices usable cars seem to cost these days, it's ones needing complete restoration that may become donors, and I think you've said before, they're still out there, but no-ones got the cash to justify restoring them. Having said all that let's be honest, what parts from a 2cv would you actually need, engine, gearbox, axles? You yourself Russell know how many of those you've weighed in in the past because no-one wants them, and when was the last time a 2cv was broken for it's chassis, 20 yrs ago? No-one's going to go to the trouble of building some thing like that on a patched-up 24+year old original chassis, when replacements are readily available. Admittedly you would look like a plum going to work in it on a rainy thursday, but that's not what it's for.

Joolz, so how would this one rate in the 'neither use nor ornament' stakes?
