The stock value is basically whatever he paid for it.

Don't think that would work as he would have to show what he paid for them in the first place as his "input cost" and who would pay over the odds for crap like he sells .....oh hang on....what price does he want for everything......oops,

Even then, there's probably far better ways of hiding/laundering hooky profits TBH, I think he's being credited with FAR too much intelligence. I'll go with the simpler view - he's a chancer with no real idea of what the chod he's punting is worth, and just gets lucky occasionally with the odd even dafter punter.
