Cheers Don, I think I've found the issue.

Internal alternator fuse had gone.

Viking, I guess that a green one was fitted as red ones are probably fairly rare.

So this is the part that's gone. As ECAS are closed today and I need the car now, and it's a 30 amp alternator, I'm going to use 30amp fuse wire (or maybe a bit of copper wire...) to join the three terminals.

Before you do this do you know the cause and did you fix it otherwise every fuse will go again...

Not exactly, but everything on the car is fused. The only thing between the alternator and the fuse box is the starter motor. Also I connected the earth to +12v which probably didn't help...

Many thanks to Sean and Ken for their help and to the nice electrician who was rewiring next door who gave me some fuse wire (he went home with a beer).
