I steam / pressure washed (pressurewash does 140 degree c ) the engine on my truck which took years of dirt away, and ran like shit for a few minutes and then all was well

but thats derv...

just wondered weather the same treatment would be good for the 2cv, but the general consensus is dont bother

I do smell burning oil when im going really fast... I geuss that is it burning off..

DON'T pressure wash the oil cooler as you may flatten the ally fins and stop the cooling.

Do it by hand with gunk degreaser and a bottle of water to rinse. An old toothbrush is quite good to clean the gearbox casing.

Keep your pressure washer to do you drive after you've cleaned your engine with a degreaser/solvent. As Sean has already warned about them over coming seals. I've used a hand spray to pump degraser into the oil , then having left it to do it's work, I used my hand pumped garden sprayer directing the fine jet from the engine side, as the oil and crap is blown in from the front of the car, this shifted the cap no problem.I cleaned the engine and gear box the same way using hot water in the sprayer. Tooth brushes, paint brushes and washing up brushes a.re great for agitating the cleaner,so getting a more effective clean :D
