 Re: 2013 24hr Race
A tough event 24hr endurance racing. Never driven in it but I pit crew on a leman team. The amount of testing we do up to the event we are knackered before the race starts.

Sean wrote: bollox! that was hard work. 23:59:59.999 erm lashed up a car just made it to qualifying with minutes to spare. spent the night rebuilding the engine and changing the box ( yes the one you helped build and set up last year was still in with black treacle for lubrication) then had to make the car safe as a priority and legal as a desireable - scrutineers actually quite sympathetic and came and saw what we were doing was for the safety of our drivers and the other competitors - i was welding in harness mounts and seat mounts with the driver suited up and Christian standing there holding his seat made it out of the pits for the start by 1 second. Then the flywheel let go at the esses at 23 33 yes 27 minutes to run the length of Snetterton to push the car back, change the gearbox re fit the remains of the engine luckily there was 2 engine mounts left on the block and they were diagonally opposite fit a clutch to what was left of the flywheel repair wiring and ignition crimp off the brake pipe to the front calipers no time for fiddly brake nonsense and set it off in 2nd gear just as the flag came down to close the circuit - took an apeal by a very sweaty and dirty pair of mechanics to race controll if they consider the start finish line to extend to the pit lane for time keeping, late starters and other things then they have to extend the start finish for us crossing it to finish upheld! didn't get an D.N.F and we only lost one place in the results and so were not last and think that means we still beat Lumaca who have their own tails of woe and heroic disasters. pictures of the shrapnel later

 Re: 2013 24hr Race
oh and had an arm fail 3hrs in, fanbelt go in the middle of the night causing total failure of the 4 HiDs ( 10w "sidelights" next year as tungstens just dim) and a fan shed its blades at 18hrs at and our now mandatory run out of fuel in the first stint

You didn't beat us, we were only two laps behind you when the flywheel let go. Glad you got classified though, it would have been a bastard if they'd dnf'd you.
