Help if you want

Thanks, but not to worry, I'm not spending another day crawling around under it, I'll probably buy some new springs from ecas and start again. I only got about a quarter of what I wanted to do completed yesterday, I haven't moved the damper mounts, I didn't get any of the bodywork done and I couldn't find any known good track rod ends, I tried to do too much in too little time. I think I'll build some new spring cans up and change them in the future.

LPGO, I want it low, so I'm going to make it low. If everybody had the same things or looked for the easy life 2cving wouldn't be much fun would it?

Sam, I think you mean 'because there won't be any need to fix the race car, we will have plenty of time to change your kingpins', right?

My day started badly with a monumental downpour that flooded most of the local roads and meant the car was absolutely soaked and would be a misery to work on...

Image

It didn't get much better when the bloody forklift wouldn't start...

Image

It wasn't until 11am that I finally got the car in the workshop on stands...

Image

Removed the well battered crossbox...

Image

managed to repair this...

Image

Got the spring cans off...

Image

My springs next to standard springs.

And this was as far as I got before the camera battery went flat.

I've a few objections to airbag suspension, one, being able to raise your car and drive round 95% of the time like standard then lowering it to impress your mates or turn up at shows like a hero seems a bit limp wristed, I also can't afford them, which is probably the main reason. I've built this car (and every other car) on handouts and other people's cast offs so I've never been able to do exactly what I wanted but I'm grateful for what I've been able to achieve without having to spend much, and ultimately that's what's holding it back. I will probably buy a pair of new ECAS springs, maybe even new cans and go from there. It looks like I'm about to take delivery of a new chassis and I could end up putting this back to stock and building another 2cv to have low, then I can really fuck something up and it won't matter, I am reluctant to do anything with this car that's going to be an arse to change back.

I took the bootlid off it today, so, that's a start. I might take the doors off it tomorrow if I find the time. Maybe the bonnet too.

Boom! Got myself full on motivated and started stripping it for the new bodywork and chassis.
