I can't get away until first thing Friday, when are you going? I'm not fussed about convoying, I've got RAC, but if you want to we can?

 Re: 1979 Jaune Mimosa 2CV
Well, today was a total waste of time.
I modified the spring cand and replaced the battered ones with some others, put some packers under the springs so stop them bottoming out but alas, no joy. It's slightly better but not perfect, I'm starting to think the rear springs are going coil bound which means they're basically fucked and I need to replace them and start again. I changed the steering rack but midway through I started to wonder if the play in the steering wasn't the rack but maybe something else, the bottom of the steering column was a bit mangled and I've changed that for a spare. I also did away with the torpedo silencer and this was a colossal mistake. From memory, doing this results in a nice raspy sound. What I've got now is a car I cannot bear to drive as its so bloody loud. I've modified the rear pipe and that was slightly successful, it looks better now anyway.
I spent the entire day at work trying to make it better and lower, I've ended up with a car that's pretty much the same height but with a list of more things that need replacing. All the engine mounts are FUBAR, I haven't changed the kingpins, track rod ends or anything else as I didn't finish until 7pm.
What. A load of old bollocks.
