 Wireing problems?
My rebuild is at the stage now where the wireing needs installing, but being new to 2cv, I'm gob struck at the task ahead Every other wire is green? Why didnt they use different coloured wires Iike the rest of the world? Nothing has been labeled, so I'm at the mercy of the Haynes manual which confuses me no end! For example, looking for a connection for the brake fluid check switch, ( might not be correct, but just using this as an example) it says I should be looking for a brown and a clear connection, but I can find a green wire with a brown connection and a grey wire with a brown connection? Which one is which? What is what? Also, several of the connections ask for a Bl, which is blue, but in the dozens of connections I have , there's only one blue spade connection! Dozens of Violet, but only one blue! My plan of attack is to install the wiring, connect what falls and fits in that area, connect the battery and very carefully switch on, see what works, and fix what doesn't! Any advice for me would be great

 Re: Wireing problems?
Buy a half decent voltmeter, one that has a clear AUDIBLE continuity tester, cheap ones you can hardly hear... this means you can set it to continuity and probe one end of the wire and the others, or fuse box to see where it ends/runs to. I found it priceless with my rebuild! given I had a few extra wires though, I still use it a lot. It was 3 1/2 years between pulling it all apart then purring it back together so of course I didn't label anything cause it seems so easy when you disassemble it, at the time... I also scanned old pics I had to see how the loom lay, that was the first battle... but this would be more useful on a standard 2cv... Harley

 Re: Wireing problems?
Thanks for the reply, Don't you think for such a simple car with so few"gadgets" there's tons of wires? I've re wired several Morris Minors, and found it simple, every wire has a colour, every colour has a destination, Citroen? Every colour is green or grey! I've no problem with the wires to the rear of the car, they have all lined up and colours matched up. Just see how we go! Paul

Hi Paul, Do the big wires first, ignition, starter, voltage regulator and alternator. There's a fat yellow one to start with at the starter motor. Then photograph it and post it here. The mysteries of the other wires will become apparent. I'll send some photos during the week.
