Post Sticking throttle
What causes it and how do I cure it. Accelorator pedal is a little relaxed at coming up again.

Some PTF in the mechanism?
New return Spring?
Just write the lot off and scrap it?

It's a standard late Solex twin choke, cable operated carb.

Cheers m'dears.

Some lubrication at the carb end might help, but in my experience it's usually the pedal itself which sticks. If I remember rightly, the pivot pin is actually threaded, and the pedal is screwed onto it. There's a nut on the other end which holds it into the pedal box - remove that and the pedal and pin will come out together. Unscrew the pin, oil/grease it, and refit.

Edit: Is this the Mehari or the Doily?

I have just been trying to cure such a problem. Mine appears to have been gunked up around the two springs at the bottom right of this picture...

... though mine also was faltering just as I started to move the accelerator pedal because it was opening the 2nd choke at the same time as the 1st. I obviously need to look at it regularly and keep it clean and lubed...

So this may of course not be the same as yours but I definitely felt it as a sticking throttle and a reluctance to return to tick over.

Every 2cv I've driven has had sticking throttle problem. Drive a long distance at a steady speed and it sticks, drive a shorter distance but fast and it sticks.
But notice short disances variable speed and there's no problem.
I think heat expansion (I know not where) is the root cause.

Never had this happen even with long distances at speed.Maybe your throttle cable is knackered. The only way is to disconnect both end and see how freely it moves,it only takes a kink or corrosion and/or frayed section of the bowden cable to cause this guess it's a matter of starting at the carb and working through to ensure everything is free and smooth.

Just as a post script make sure that the actual cable is not being used as an earth path, this was a problem with the BMW K100 bikes that had heated grips, the throttle cable was getting hot and melting the nylon inner sleeve which caused the throttle to stick open :o .I know it sounds a bit daft but you just never know

Check also that neither of those two return springs at the bottom of the carb haven't broken and that the one that connects to the cowling is in good nick too...

Could also be a gunked up throttle cable.

Strip, lube 'er up and give it the ol' in-out... ;) ;)

Sam,
if any/all of the above don't work, try relocating the anchorage point of the spring on the carburettor.
By hooking it onto the clevis pin used for the throttle cable instead of where Citroen originally attached it, there's more 'pull' available to close the throttle.
You will need a cable tie at the cowl end of the spring to 'fine tune' the spring tension, just keep shortening the cable tie loop until the action of the throttle feels OK.

(The cable tie in the photograph is fully closed, but that throttle spring had been stretched.)
