If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's probably electrical (or, an electric fuel pump!) ....

   |   Re: Oil leakHijacking the post a little but after I'd thrashed The Shed on Thursday, noticed a fine spray of oil around the top of the engine - took time to look around it today and the oil feed banjos to the heads are dry, doesn't look like the pushrods are leaking but oil is coming out from around the front of the engine - took the fan off and it looks like its coming out of the camshaft bearing/seal.What's the likely cause of this....buggered breather? Seal?
Is there a seal there that can be replaced or is it a bearing and would need a rebuild?

   |   Re: Oil leakcould be - could be a myriad of toubles. That's the crankshaft seal your looking at as the cam doesn't have one and is hidden in the points box.

thrashing any engine is never a good idea.

   |   Re: Oil leakD'oh! - of course it's the crankshaft - when I said thrashed it, meant I only gave it the beans in normal driving but on a longer, 120 mile round trip, than usual potter around.....is the crankshaft seal replaceable without a strip down? _________________
