Re: 1957 AZU - René II
You will need to have the driveshafts and hubs off to assemble the joints.

Re: 1957 AZU - René II
Iam going to try and push the bearings outof the hub yoke. They went in quite easily. Then press the main driveshaft one in the vice and the out it back on.
I might need another set from you 2cviking if I don't get them out in one piece.

Re: 1957 AZU - René II
It has been a while but I finally got back in the workshop to finish off putting my little van back together. I have the gearbox in already and was just putting in the exhaust when I noticed a hole, ground out the rust and doubled the size of the hole before welding on a small patch. Untitled by Tripyrenees, on Flickr Putting the engine in and I got my T Shirt caught, stumbling around with engine in hand I managed to get it lined up and pushed on without dropping a bean Always a worry these "snags" when you are on your own. Untitled by Tripyrenees, on Flickr Connected the clutch and start on the rest of it Untitled by Tripyrenees, on Flickr Still waiting for my driveshafts but they are on their way Untitled by Tripyrenees, on Flickr

Re: 1957 AZU - René II
Put on the light bar and connected the electrics - had a few tests with the lights as the guy that helped me at the show (back in April) pulled them all off without taking note - but 3 wires do not take long to "trial & error" fault find Untitled by Tripyrenees, on Flickr On with the grill and I thought I would try and start it - used the crank handle and was so surprised it fired on the first turn that I nearly lost my arm. Happy though as this first start is always a worry Untitled by Tripyrenees, on Flickr As I am waiting for some final parts I am cleaning along the way - these no rush jobs always seem to go easier than the "rush, I need the car in an hour" jobs. Re: 1957 AZU - René II
I filled the oil in the gearbox (before I started it) and changed the oil in the engine. Made sure I have a record of the light connections - even put my battery on charge as it was near dead after sitting so long. I think I might invest in a new battery soon but these 6 volts are so bloody expensive Untitled by Tripyrenees, on Flickr I put the bumper trim on too, although I only received one half - are these companies so stingie not to sell both for the same price - will order another one as it looks quite nice. Also pop riveted my number plate back on as I will not need my quick release method as I will not be using the "A" Frame again with this car Untitled by Tripyrenees, on Flickr Last job of the day was fitting (for the first time) the chevrons to the grill. I am still waiting on the surround strip from a guy on the Bon Coin (better check if he has cashed my cheque as it has been a while now) Untitled by Tripyrenees, on Flickr
