I've bought a set of the stainless steel centre caps that screw to the 2cv road wheel, and being new to the scene, thought that they would surely dig into the paint on the wheels, or at the very least, clatter like a tin can under speed!
Anyway, I found some rubber section that is a perfect fit for the wheel trim, and could have been made for the job!
If anyone is interested, I could send a photo, and I have quite a bit of the rubber section left over should you wish to have a go!
Of course, this might already be catered for, or the trims shouldn't touch the wheel when tightened up, but mine made direct contact with the wheel, and is now a neat fit!

I use my Dyane/Acad/Mehari/Ami6 headlamp bezel (and Ami6 grille) surround grey trim on my hubcaps. It's small enough, so it doesn't look out of place but just big enough to do the job of protecting the paint on the wheel. It's also a very close match to the original AC136 Gris Rose wheel colour.

never had a rattly hubcaps or cut paint using the original embellisher.

IIRC ......the original hubcaps [on Dyanes & Charlestons] had a plastic washer on the bolt ['twixt cap & wheel] to stop the hubcap rattling and marking the paint.

btw .....a quick tip ......I always put a spot weld on the nut which clips into the wheel ......it saves destroying the hubcap to remove the wheel [after the captive bolt breaks loose .......which sooner or later they all do ..... ]

Well there we have it, I'm on non original!
Anyway, the rubber trim is hardly visible and allows the non original to sit firmly on the rim and cost me about a quid!

Obviously ive only put a small section on to show the fit, it will go all the way round the trim.

They get proper rattly when some comedian decides to put a handful of gravel behind the hubcap whilst you're drunkenly snoring in a tent...
