we just hitch up and have a look- see--
if the trailer light are working at the outset alls good
i can,t imagine a copper testing a warning buzzer, after all theyre not the sharpest knives in the draw :)

I wired a buzzer into the 106, really easy to do if you read te easily mid understood instructions

First thing I did wrong was to wire it in parrelal instead of 'inline' there's 6 wires iirc.. 2 per indicator and earth and 12v..? Maybe only 5
Anyway the indicator wiring should pass trough the device via the appropriate wire, the idea is when there's load being drawn through the circuit by a trailer board being present it should beep. It took me a few attempts to get it right as its easily mis understood. I wired it parallel as it said 'wire this to pin x and this to pin x and this to wire x and this to wire x. To me I thought we'll the wire goes there anyway. Do it parrelal but I was wrong

If u don't need it don't bother with it, there doesn't seem anything in the MOT that says u need one....!!

Matt. Maybe read the mot guide again. It is neccasary to have a warning light or sound when the trailer board is connected to indicate the indicators are working

I'm surprised James, I don't remember it being the case in the past, and it's unusual for things to be applied retrospectively. Have you got a link to the appropriate paragraph in the testers manual?

Sorry James, I'm sure u r incorrect as its state under section 1.9 sub section 3 of the MOT inspection guide 2012 that the only electrical thing tested ref towbars is...... See below

3. On vehicles fitted with a towbar, check the condition and security of the trailer electrical socket.
Note: This check applies to both 7 pin (12N) and 13 pin electrical sockets.
4. On vehicles fitted with a trailer 13 pin Euro- socket, use an approved device to check that the socket is wired to correctly operate the trailer:
trailer 13 pin Euro-socket not operating the
 Position lamps
 Stop lamps
 Direction indicators
 Rear fog lamp

Sorry no mention of any lights or buzzers!!
As joolz says above have you any proof to back it up...

And I'll find out next month when I take the Laguna for mot as I recently fitted a towbar to it and got the local auto electricians to wire it up and there isn't a warning light or buzzer fitted to mind....
