 Noise - manifold/carb?
Ok turned off the stereo on my way back from manc meet and the engine sounded like a bag of bolts... Lot throatier than it should be and on the overrun there's a horrible tingling sound, almost like pinking but there's also a shit load of popping too. All the power is there, perhaps more than there was earlier, but I think that's to do with the sound Just sounds like a tractor and it really does sound like the engine is fucked on the overrun. Too dark to look now but I'm guessing its manifold/carb related? Anything to look for in particular? Sorry for being a noob, James xox

Or check the exhaust to see if an extra outlet has appeared, including around the crossbox?

 Re: Noise - manifold/carb?
Urgh found problem.... Huge chunk of plastic carb base missing.... Along with a sheared stud bolt being held nicely in place by the bottom of carb.... WTF.... Ok so I'll get a plastic thing ordered.... Will the carb be alright with just three bolts for a while though? I've got a spare manifold but going to uni a week tomorrow Also... HOW THE HELL HAS THIS HAPPENED?

 Re: Noise - manifold/carb?
Which part is broken? As the symptoms sound the same as mine. Really loud induction noise poping on overrun and jingling noise occasionally on load

Really loud induction noise poping on overrun and jingling noise occasionally on load Its the front stud on the manifold to carb mounting. I think the noise is more to do with the plastic gasket having a chunk missing, but which caused which, I don't know.
