Post Which way up do AVO dampers go?
I got no instructions with them, and there's no obvious markings on them other than some scrapes which i assume must've been on the underside, but anybody got any idea which way is up and which way round they're meant to go? I followed several sunday drivers home and couldn't really see if it was any different but I#m guessing if I've got the buggers on upside down they're not going to work correctly...

either way up as you want the ajuster wheel outwards, bodies to the chassis IIRC

( orientation in the bin is unimportant tho, the new alloy ones dont like shock load in tension)

Cheers. These aren't alloy they're steel, I only asked as mine wouldn't fit with he rubber cover end towards the front on the front end, and I wondered if I needed to modify the mounting plate. I've put them on and can't really tell a difference, except they're bigger and hit the ground more, and they look cool hanging under the car. the old ones were so stiff I couldn't move them by hand at all, I assume they're bent or something. Ah well.

They are the steel ones yes.
IIRC mine only fit this way, the other way round and the body would hit the mounting plate..

Just checked on 2cv.nl ans IRC ;)..

These are also steel ones, mounted the same way as mine..
