No such thing! in fact the greater the mass of the flywheel the more likley that you are actually wasting energy, thats why the modern car is tending towards the the lighter flywheel

And anyway nowts free anymore, according to V.... were under a Tory Gov now :lol:

Just my 2p worth, but when I ran a Dyane box (urgently bought from a French Scrappy due to gearbox-explosion :? ) in my 2cv for a few years I too always found the 4th gear too high for the standard 2cv engine and 2cv aerodynamics (if thats not a contradiction in terms).

I was forever having to change down much earlier on hills etc, even with the heavy flywheel, and was very happy to get a standard 2cv one back in there eventually.
