Has anyone tried using a piece cut from silicon cookware as a replacement for the valve?

the silicone bakewear makes a rather good valve however im not so sure about the longevity as it is affected by unleaded petrol

[quote="Sean"]those reed valve ones suffer corrosion from the condensation in them , the steel lump the carbon reed and the stainless keeper plate all conspire to rot the reed

I will keep an eye on the corrosion - but now I can see what is going on with normal one it is all hidden. All oil leaks gone.................. !! :)
