2CViking, here you post about a bash plate. I want to create something alike, do you happen to have the measurements of your model? |

Reason is that not all chassis are the same, don't remember this one either being original or something else. It should be fairly easy to make one. Happy working

Viking Can you not give the measurements between the hole centres that will give him a starting point at least and they will be the same irrelevant of the chassis? |

It'd be a better idea to measure the chassis that the plate is intended for, it's not hard to wield a tape measure. I hate making things from dimensions given to me over the phone or scawled down by somebody else. At least if I measure it I know it's right, and if not there's only one reason why! |

Much better than original or no plate at all. The plate will not protect the muffler, which is normally hammered to pieces unless you are careful.

Hey, Erasmo, there are a "Raid Handbook" made by Citroën. In it, there is measures for a sump guard/bash plate. Lot's of other clever stuff there to. It's my bible, for when my time comes for a Raid. http://www.touareg-trail.be/2cv_2011/pages/nl/documents/IcicommencelAventure-2cvpreparationraid_000.pdf Some time ago I read a blog by some dudes going through Africa in a orange 2CV. "2CV 2 Africa" I think it was. A great blog, one of the best I have ever read. He was on the road for over a year, and the car "evolved" during the trip. At one point it had a front guard made of bamboo  Anyhow, there I read, that a sump guard witch is to "closed" will collect dust and mud, until the point it will be a problem for the engine/gearbox/driveshafts. He actually had to remove the plate. With a construction like the one in Citroëns manual, I think the chance of this happening is much smaller. Just mentioning it, have no personal experience. Discuss it!

The metal original plate isn't a great deal of use in Morrocco where its either big rocks, medium rocks or soft feche-feche (with hidden rocks) same plate made from 2-3mm steel or 3mm Dural plate is protection. I used the pattern in "Ici Comence..." and had to remove the plate and hammer it back in to shape every night. |
