 Re: Misfiring & backfiring
If its only dribbling doesn't sound right - needs to be a nice atomised spray so suspect something is either blocking the flow to the jet or has the accelerator pump diaphragm split?

 Re: Misfiring & backfiring
Sam,they came with the pistons i bought from Ecas. The reason I suggested a compression test was to check that an inlet valve wasnt on its way out.Worn rings wouldnt make it fluff through the carb.If you do have a semi blocked jet,it will run lean and backfire/fluff/fart/what ever through the carb. But,it could also be the coil or condenser. If you are going to fit a new condenser, mount it near the coil and extend the wire.Makes it easy to change next time.

 Re: Misfiring & backfiring
Accelerator pump diaphragm wouldn't cause it to pop and bang and limp along, it'd just take bastard ages to get to top speed where it'd run fine, wouldn't it? That's how split accelerator pump diaphragms have made my cars behave. I think this is more down to points, condensor or coil. I don't understand how a blocked jet or split accelerator pump will make it backfire through the carb.
But I don't know anything really, could be a jellyfish in the exhaust for all my knowledge is worth.

 Re: Misfiring & backfiring
Nah...if it was a jellyfish there'd be more backfire, popping suggests its a mackerel problem...

 Re: Misfiring & backfiring
check it anyway, that was the same as brothers prob, operate the throttle arm whilst looking down the carb there should be a fine squirt of fuel emmitting from the tip of little brass tube that hangs above the butterfly
