Yeah, I had them on the line today. It is a bugger as they are charging me €327 for the AZU on a limited mileage contract where AMV was €132....plus my Solex just cost me €48 instead of €32.

but never mind, I will have all this sorted out for next time, now I know.

I should get my number plate for the solex tomorrow so will go out on some of the real road..... well at least to Shopi :D

I am just very surprised that I have not done a thing to the engine (so far) and it starts within one pedal stroke or push off.
I was expecting it to start like my bloody lawnmower, after about 20 mins of pulling

I am also waiting for the new tires and my Solexine can (and holder). Put on some panniers yesterday so I will be ready for some big tours soon

I dont know if you are familiar with Outboard Motors, and if you aren't,then sorry, but, the Solex engine is just like a British Seagull motor. They always start,no matter what you do to them.Sink 'em,burn 'em,trash 'em,what ever, they just start and run.Brilliant :D :D :D .

I've got this wonderful mental image now of some kind of cast-iron pedalo with a Missisippi-style paddle drum at the front, with a petrol hairdryer turning it by friction...

I remember pulling out a brass tanked seagull from the sea in '09 (reason i remeber is it was a '59 model so 59 yrs old..) had been in the mud for a few days- 20 mins and by no means an exaggeration it was running. 20-1 oil mixture. Would run on diesel proberly !!

Great engines. Shame they where so noisey!!

We had a couple of Seagulls in the family when I was young (ah - happy days..) 1 was my Grandad's & the other my Dad's; they were 'one man engines' and would only run for their respective owners... weird.

On a different off topic, sorry not a Solex I couldn't afford one :( I got a Horsy instead - anyone ever heard of one?

Sold as siezed but turning now after a bit of diesel and gentle coaxing, now looking for a spark... :?

That looks great - although a little complicated. Doe the engine drive the chain or is it a roller too like the solex.

If anyone sees a sole they are interested in on Le Bon Coin or Ebay and it is in the Midi Pyrenees, then let me know as I can go and look at it and pick it up if needed and then work out the shipping later. I am on the hunt for some cheap units to do up over the winters.

Oh yes this is super slick (allegedly) '50s wunder-ped! It is a belt/centrifugal clutch primary drive and chain final drive, seperate pedal chain drive on other side of bike. It has all the mod cons : sprung front fork, drum brakes both ends :o & whitewall tyres  Sadly no roller drive tho... but just as slowly fun I hope!

I'd guess it feels a bit safer too, as you haven't got an engine slung over the handlebars, so it has a lower centre of gravity.
