Re: Olive the Blueberries & Cream D*lly
Big old hole in the exhaust cross box (I may have mentioned this before) is getting beyond plugging so: Questions Fit new cross box? Or Fit whole new system as the extra couple of bits are not that much more expensive? Then, as I doubt I will have the time & skill to fit: Is it okay to use a Kwik Fit type place? Will they be happy if I supply the pipework? Thanks

hi there eastbourne its quite easy to replace the cross box, remove the front wings to get access, then remove the clamps then undo the nuts that attach the crossbox to the gearbox casing then unhook it get a good quality box as the tubes on cheap ones may not line up quik fit use boys , not good btw ive read the whole thread exellant! ps- the oil filter can be accessed much easyer by removing the wing nice to see that u are using the proper filter andy

V v v eaay to fit. Dont waste your money. Its nuts and bolts amd tgats it. Tin of copper grease and a few 13 (?) mm nuts in the clamps and a few bolts in the floor and your done
If you got the complete system your welcom to pop over and ill help you fit it..!!
Imo its worth getting the complete system. Not much more as you say

Re: Olive the Blueberries & Cream D*lly
That is a kind offer thank you James, but I don't want to put you out. I think it might be worth giving this a go, so thanks for the further encouragement. I shall just do the crossbox, therefore less time needed (that is what I am really short of) and less daunting too. To be fair the rest of the system does not look too bad. I say that and I bet the rest of the system will be blowing like a brass section once I've done the cross box So I just need cross box, clamps, bolts & copper grease? Let me know if there is anything else required while I'm at it.

Ben, If you can stretch to it I'd suggest you go for the Burton clamps: http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/clamp-49m ... -1486.htmlhttp://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/clamp-49m ... -1486.html4 x 49mm & 1 x 47mm - They make fitting a crossbox an *almost* pleasurable experience. Also, depending on who or where fitted the last one you may need the bolts to hang the crossbox from the gearbox: http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/bolts-was ... p-261.html

Re: Olive the Blueberries & Cream D*lly
I too was about to suggest buying Burton clamps, they are superb and worth every penny. Putting the new exhaust on will be easier than getting the old one off! I would loosen everything up before fitting the new one - heat exchanger nuts, manifold nuts, etc... it'll mean everything wriggles into place more easily. As you'll have the exhaust out of the way and you'll be rolling around under your car anyway, I would suggest servicing the knife edges at the same time - it's a LOT easier with the wings and exhaust out the way. Make a day of it!

Makes life so much easier...
