Re: How did you get into 2CV's?
A bit like toomany2cvs' story really....
My dad traded in his nearly new Consul Cortina (mk1 !!) for a brand new AZAM in '66. We lived in Malta at the time, and the 2CV took ages to arrive. It wasn't until Dad bunged the customs officials a ten bob note that the car arrived- it had probably been sitting in the customs house for months.
It was imported into the UK in '67 as LDD926E and the gris rosé beauty with red seats and chromey hoop overriders was our family car until it was replaced by an Ami8 Confort saloon LFH232K in Blanc-Meije in '72. In the late '70s Dad retired and traded up to a Bleu Myosotis GS Club, so it was left to me to pick up the 2CV driving mantle when I bought my first car, a '67 Belgian-built AZL in 1982.
I too joined CDFDPS in Cheltenham which was a thriving little group until the mid '90s. Many old school CDFDPS members have either moved away or got into other cars: Martin Jones still has "Woodstock", his yellow V-reg 2CV Aventure, a '89 LHD Spesh in original black paint and an old 1970 Dyane amongst his collection of old Citroens; Stuart Watkins still has his ancient 375cc Sluff Pickup (and a Berlingo taxi!) Jason Goss has defected to driving a Skoda and an Austin Seven Chummy; Martyn Little still runs Cotswold 2CV Services but no longer owns an A-Series of his own; Pete Grubb and the Waldrons moved away many, many years ago........ As for myself. I got more into Tractions and Ds, so also drifted away........
CDFDPS seems to have disbanded completely now, so maybe it's time for a revival?

Re: How did you get into 2CV's?
Well my mechanic next door neighbour (Andy Parish, now sadly deceased) was mad about them and found one for my Mum as her first independantly owned car, a Green Dyane.
When I passed my driving test he found me a '79 blue CLUB which I crashed. I then briefly had a Green Dyane like my Mum (who by then had a 652 VISA) which I got rid of to get a much better '81 Red Special called Renee. I then joined the RAF and didn't have a car for a couple of years until I bought an orange Dyane for my Brother which we covered in Tiger stripes.
Now I'm returning to A series after a break of nearly 20 years (shame on me).

I was there too, Oreo. Although I didn't meet Neil until a field in Cornwall in '06, and the first I saw of you was when you were helping Uncle Steve change a kingpin on his car in Matlock one day.

I just saw one in the street saying: for sale. I bought it and have kept it for more than 20 years. It is still alive and kicking...
