I thought I would post this here as its a bit more specialised!

A well known engine builder I have used here in Aus has sold up his shop (retirement supposedly) and is now doing this... Cryocycle Thermal Technologies
He has had great results in strengthening drive shafts (including UJ's) crank bearings and cases, including all engine internals.
The process doesn't harden or temper the material, it realigns the molecules which strengthens it and greatly reduces wear.
The most noticeable is on disc brakes and pads. less wear, dust and fade.

"regularly delivers scientifically measured increases in durability, or "wear life" in the area of 200% to 300% (depending on quality and type of material) and proven cost savings of 50%."

Cost efficient also.

Before clicking on this I had thoughts of somebody having their body frozen after death (well, at least, I hope it would be after death ) and await a miracle cure for the ultimate disease

With the temperatures you are getting in your workshop you may be applying the process passively already! I heard it's good for the spuds also, keeps the pencil sharp
Although minus 400'c is farken down there...

Edit: Jonathan, I also thought that when the engine builder told me, as he had sold the business I was like "So, your going into retirment then?" "nah, I'm doing impregnating and cryogenics" I said "Sweet, though you might get one away before you freeze yourself then!?"
