Peter. Just read this thread from start to finish. Bloody brilliant, and very inspiring. Thanks so much for keeping such a thorough diary - very helpful to a novice like me.

UPDATE :o

Sean led me into his cave of wonders, and we emerged with THIS
Image

Makes the car look a bit like a car again! It also fitted on the hinge I had fitted, which was a bonus.

I first removed the sound deadening which was oily, heavy and generally a bit pointless.
Image
Image

Then I went about repairing the small areas of rust which were present. Firstly a new front edge was made and welded in, (no "before" pictures of this)
Image

And then I cleaned up the inner hinge area which was a bit crusty.
Image

Hinge cut and split from inner section
Image

Inner cut out and replaced, with hinge repaired
Image
Image

Inside primed
Image

Finished the drip rail on the N/S
Image

Figured out and made a locking mechanism for the suicide door catches

Locked
Image

Unlocked
Image

Designed to match the release lever.
Image

I then made and welded tabs on the B post side of the front doors, for attaching a check strap, as per the rear doors on a standard car.
Image

Being a tight bastard, I decided to try and make 50's style bumpers.

Got this,
Image

And shortened, narrowed and generally hacked it about, until it looked like this.
Image

It looks a bit like an early example, but I'm not happy with it so if anyone wants it, let me know, will need brackets and over riders, some Neanderthal threw away the over riders

I then cleaned glue and foam and general gunk from the bulkhead areas, and inner side panel.
Image
Image
Image
Image

And prepped the interior metalwork for primer.
Image

Followed by the outside.
Image
Image

I then flipped the shell, and etch primed the underside.
Image

Followed by textured stonechip paint on the inner wings, and floors.
Image
Image
Image
Image

Then I primed the entire underside in a decent high build 2k primer.
Image
Image

I then gathered all the exterior panels together
Image

Hung them up
Image

And banged on more 2K HB primer.
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

That brings me up to this evening.

I should have some colour on the underside by the weekend.

I'm quite set on Vert Cactee, AC 513

Image

Opinions welcome, I change my mind on the colour about twice a day.

Cheers..

I'm completely in awe of your work, I've long since wanted to be able to do body repairs like this, but my limits are pretty much a wire brush, some rust eater and then a rattle can of primer & paint :(

Warning: I'm very colorblind, but I don't think that van is Vert Cactee (registers day winner Brian Mark's?)

My van is two-tone Vert Cactee (AC513) and Gris Kandahar (AC133):

The van you've pictured, I'd say is AC136, Gris Rose. Note Gris Rose changed in September '67 to a slightly different colour and was assigned AC140 :ugeek:

EDIT: My van is supposed to be AC513/AC133. I see that if you google 'Citroen vert cactee' you do indeed get a pic of Brian's van... interesting :?

For reference, Tim Jessop's very brightly 2K'd AK in Gris Rose:
