Mind you its a powerful amount of cast iron to heat up, like the worlds largest Le Creuset pan and once its hot it stays hot for ages and gives it a great heater. :-D

I think it isn't ploughing, it is melting it!!!!

I convinced my wife that AMI is the only way to get to her job. And when she says that it is cold in the AMI ... I put the fan in the car. And tryed to persuaded her that it is OK. She did not want to face the cold in AMI but I took her to work with my DAK one day... now it is OK. Her AMI is now warm enough. Since my DAK is a traveling freezer :)

The only (safe) possibilities I can think of revolve around electricity. Heated seat covers, perhaps? To be honest though, I think the way forward is probably more clothes! Some kind of lining in the roof is a good idea, to give a bit more insulation. An inline fan in the heater tubes is supposed to help with demisting before you move off. Hoping to try that one myself this winter...

Rather than heating the car, why not concentrate on heating the person. For example, a heated jacket

Or a heated gilet

Smiffy,
maybe you're missing the point, in that it's handy to have the interior of the car warmed up enough to prevent those 'little local difficulties', such as ice forming on the inside of the windscreen as soon as you move off... ;)
