Hi Brooky. How are you getting on with yours? Seem to remember you were getting an original 65 chassis, yes? Have you taken possession yet?

Well...I'm still waiting for my '65 chassis. That is a bone of some contention at the moment. I'm getting no response from Gary Dicks despite numerous emails and a phone message. He seems to be ignoring me. I'm not best pleased I can tell you. If he reads this I hope he will see sense and get in touch because I'm not going to let it drop. My level of anger over the matter is rising!

Brooky.

You might want to contact Ian Wilson about rolling '65 chassis' - he's waiting for one too.

There can be no dispute about the quality of (body)work on that van, but I'd be kicking myself if there turned out to be anything not quite right with the axle bearings or friction dampers after all that effort...

( p.s. Is there supposed to be only one brake light working? ;) )

Wow! Just Wow! That really is an inspiration. Thanks for posting Smiffy. What a superb job. Gives me a good idea of what I'm facing with my '66 Belgian AZL.
It's possibly worse than that was!

Thanks Sam. What's Ian Wilsons 'handle' on here?

May also be worth speaking to Matt Concannon too, he was talking about getting hold of some bits from Gary recently.

Started MIG welding the van yesterday. Not done any welding for 15 years. Went OK, but was getting a fair bit of bird-shit style welds.
How do I remedy? What flow of CO2 should I be using? What settings would you recommend? etc etc.
Using a Clarkeweld 100E.

should hear a definite hiss from the torch 8-12 Litres/min but if its outside or draughty you may not get proper coverage

get the torch close as you can make sure the angles are OK and on 2cv metal you wont be able to get much more than a hot spot weld at a time go back and forth untill all your spots join up. youll probably need to be on minimum set up perhaps up one.

See panelbeaterpeters running resto thread

and look at http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/
