Today a mail from another satisfied costumer... Dyane61976 with his turbo 2cv

Asked him how 1-2-Spark runs and if it is ready to sell........

I think 1 -2 spark is ready for selling. The car runs like 123 or slightly better (hard to tell). The car starts very good. Being able to program is big PLUS point. I will try and make video - never uploaded one to Youtube but I will try.

So who is next??????

p.s I'm still working on map sensor, so best is a "normal 2cv"... (no turbo)...

Well just another mail from Dyane61976: (it is over the top I know I know but anyway)

Hi Geo
Just returned from a drive and now the knocking has stopped. Even on long climb on WOT in 4th gear the car pulls with no knock (had to slow down as getting up to 110kph in 90kph area). I may try increasing the advance at 6000 rpm to 21 degrees as 5000rpm.

It is much better then 123 ignition for special engine as I could not have driven the turbo this fast with 123 ignition.

Now I will enjoy and see what fuel economy etc is like just driving around normally.

Regards and Thanks

I would be interested in one of your kits i am no computor expert but would it be possible to run your system with some kind of knock sensor so the advance would be always a little retarded from the pinking zone

Theoreticly it is possible but in practice it is very difficult.
A knock sensor is a sort of microphone; it picks up all engine noise, what you have to do is to filter out the noise of knocking, this is for every car diffrent. You've got to have some sort of scoop to visualise all the diffrent noises and isolate the knock noise, this is usually done by the frequence of it. When a noise at a certain frequence is heard by the "microphon" (knocksensor)it has to go to an amplifier wich gives a sign (current) to the microchip and the microchip retards the ignition.

For me at the moment it is not duable (as for lots of aftermarket ignition systems) but hey thats why I came up with the tripple advance-tableswitch!!!!!!!

When you here the engine knocking you can by the touch of a switch choose a diffrent advancetable (ofcours with less advance) and the knocking dissapears, with my unit you can switch between 3 tables, so when it still knocks at the 3. table youre running on water!!!!

you can tune all 3 advance curves by yourself...... Look at the last video, where I'm setting the advance tables (in the right upper corner you see a 1 or 2 or 3 and you can see the advanceboxes change also when switching to another table.

video: http://youtu.be/c76WSwSPrRA
look at around 2.25 there you can see the switch and the diffrent advance curves

If you can give me a knocksensor and amplefier which gives a current when knock occurs I can programm the microchip that it works........

I agree with LPGO on this, HEREis a good article about how to implement a Knock sensor into megasquirt.
We all know how loud and rattly the 2cv is (a lot due to no water jacket), tuning a knock sensor and finding an appropriate place would be problematic at best. 3 switchable ignition curves that are also tunable is a perfect alternative.
The best way to test if a knock sensor is working is to hit the block with a hammer... I don't know about you but sounds like my engine is already hitting itself with a hammer!

A Citroen design feature. It goes away as your hearing diminishes with the passing years.

Imaging me and Mark driving in his car up a hill tuning 1-2-Spark, looking at each other if we here any knocking, almost wanting the engine to knock so that we can backup the iginition a little more till the knocking is definitly gone..... believe me you hear the first knock which comes up then.......

Tricky this one

Everything I write down here will be used against me (big brother is watching)

Well Subaru Pete gets a special price 75 euro because he volluntered to be a testdriver.....

normal price will be 150 euro without or 175 euro with mapsensor
then you need a rs232 cable for 5 euro
or an rs232 to usb for 10 euro depending on laptop

p&p will be 15 euro....

At this moment it's all handmade, it takes me 6 hours to finish a unit......
So 2 units in a months at the moment will be fine......

I think there is a market because at the moment it can do 1 2 or 4 cilinders and when I have more time it can do 1 to 16 cilinders (in wasted spark).....

Did some programming today, take a look at the video, I like it.........

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTDngt0L_J8
(editet link didn't work)

You can see 1-2-Spark advance/retard ignition under vacuum/boost

Normal airpessure = 100 (pointer vertical)

boost: pointer is going to the right retarding ignition from zero to -15 degrees

Vacuum: pointer is going to the left advancing ignition from zero to 15 degrees

n.b. only the calculated degrees from map sensor are displayed here. This is just a test
with a running engine this numbers would be added, substracted from normal advance numbers,,,,,,, numbers can be tuned to the needs of your engine...
