Post Re: The O/T thread!
I've got that Olympic thing on the telly, now, I'm not going to join the miserable nay-sayers who want to be anti-establishment and bash the whole affair, so don't get me wrong, but I have a small critisism about this parade of nations caper they're doing. Half the people involved have got their fucking iPhones out filming the whole thing whilst they're meant to starring in it. When I watch a film I don't expect Micheal Caine or Steve McQueen to get their cameraphones out and take pictures of the film crew FFS, why are these fellas any different? It's not the British way, have a bit of decorum and smile politely whilst holding your flag. The bloody Chinese had telephoto lenses an' all. Why didn't they just Sky+ it or set the video and watch it back when they get home?

I must admit I shed a tear: moving patriotism + children singing... really gets me. Though the Queen's participation in the film was fantastic, credit to her for doing that. The NHS/Literature segment was my favorite along with Mike Oldfield's performance and 'Bean' with the LSO was fabulous - Simon Rattle really knows what he's doing with them. Fabulous stuff :D

So yesterday i was at the wheel in my first crash....
Thankfully not in the 2cv...

I went to pull out but the car sed up so stopped and the retard behind me in his brand new audi drove into the back of me...

Luckily 3 days previous i fitted the toe bar, so punched a hole in his bumper and number plate.... But what amazed me is, there was a queue of traffic behind me and not one of thenpeople who saw it stopped to say they witnessed it or to make sure we were all right just drove round in ignorance i was gobsmacked i would of stopped to make sure they where ok etc

Luckily the 106 was fine, sadly the brand new audi didnt have a toeball shaped hole in his rad!

Sorry to hear that James.

The other day I heard of a guy with an A6 on the company scheme, checking out some ladies it the sun at the traffic lights, at this point he notices that the car in front is pulling away... so he accelerates away, still eyeing up the ladies. At this point he slams into the back of the car in front - a Suzuki Alto (the little stupid things) so you'd imagine it'd just cave in the rear right?
Yeah well not quite - The Suzuki rolled 3 times and landed in front of a pub... the land lady came out almightily frustrated with the Suzuki driver as no one could get to the front door!
The Audi? needs a new left front wing, that's all.
The woman in the Alto got out and thanked the Audi driver, as it was insured for more than the value of the vehicle, or so she said

Sorry, but you can put me down with the miserable nay sayers who want to bash the whole thing. I know I'm pretty cynical, but I'm but a babe in arms compared to LOCOG, who are appealing to us all to display the olympic spirit while at the same time making no secret of the fact that the games are basically a massive advert for food and drink usually consumed by people who are the opposite of athletes. And I've never been much of one for the sort of sanitised tacky bollocks which was, by all accounts, a strong feature of the opening ceremony. I'm just pleased I'm at work and could ignore the whole thing ... the little of it I heard on the midnight news was quite enough for me.
I hope people enjoy it, if that's their thing, but I'll be going to some lengths to avoid as much of it as I possibly can. I suppose it is a good opportunity to watch us doing what we do best as a nation, which seems these days to be pissing an enormous amount of our money up the wall while the economy turns to shit all around us and we're all told to tighten our belts. But never mind, at least we can rejoice in the success of some athletes who happen to be from roughly the same geographical region as us while some schoolchildren sing in the background. Bah humbug.

I can report that after pretty much a full week of backbreaking contortions and very sore fingers and thumb...I've finally managed to fit the bloody headlamp bulb to the C4!!!! And the moral of the story? Pay an extra fiver and get Halfords to do the job in future!!!

Modern cars in general are 'stupid' for headlight bulb changing, with one of the worse manufacturers being Renault by all accounts.

Was it the Megane where you had to remove the front bumper to change the bulb? Or something daft like that.

I can only assume your c4 has more trinkets than mine as changing a headlight in my c4 is pretty straight forward to change.

Yeh the problem with modern cars is that the units are supplied with bulbs when being assembled - if you ever break a lens the unit comes complete with new bulbs - and as a result little thought is made to changing them in place. I had a Rover 75 which you had to change bulbs through a small flap in the wheel arch on the out board headlights and one of my other cars, brand I cannot recall, you used to have to remove the battery to get to the bulb!
