That's what I tell my kids every year! Last year we Streetviewed Spain for two weeks. This year I'm thinking of treating them to a three week Streetview tour of California. Very cost effective.

I'm currently sightseeing around Rome, was in Paris earlier, after leaving the west coast of Ireland. Off to bed now, all this sightseeing is exhausting.

But the guy at about 5mins in is clearly talking bollocks as well as French, when he claims the R4 was the world's first front-wheel drive car.

Possibly one of the cars I regret selling the most. 2nd owner from new, 3 speed, 6 volt, 1967 R4.

Miles,
guess that was why your post disappeared earlier whilst I was trying to post a reply?

Anyway, it was just to say that I owned an almost identical car in the late 1970s, same colour but LHD and with a 750cc engine, which a friend brought back with her after living in France for 4 years.
( A Kent registration number as well. KKO 279 ? )

Didn't have much choice about whether to keep it or not, after a Scarborough bus with drunk driver behind the wheel shortened its back end by a couple of feet.

Next car was a brand new Dyane and things went downhill from then on...

ken
( p.s. Yes, it was a great little car. )

Sorry to hear about your R4 Ken...ouch ! I have posted on the R4 forum, and my old one is still around, I would be very tempted if it was ever offered for sale again. Only sold as I didnt have garage space at the time; but i do now. It will never capture my heart in quite the same way as an A series, but a great little car all the same.

Miles,
the fact that the bench seat came clean off its mountings, so that we ended up with our heads almost touching the tailgate, meant that neither of us suffered whiplash.

However, the force of the impact had punted the car into the middle of a pond on the flooded road, that being the reason why we'd stopped in the first instance, so I climbed out onto the bonnet and started shouting (abuse) at the bus driver.

One of the policemen manning the road block waded towards the car, disappeared for a little while when he fell over, but once he'd recovered (and I'd calmed down) he agreed that we could drive the mile or so to where we were staying that night, even with the rear end of the car looking as though it had exploded.

Fun times all round...
