 Still rocking. Hallo all. Any idea why my 2CV is still rocking back and forth after a complete stop from any speed?

Re: Still rocking. When you pull up the car moves backwards and forwards slightly? The driveshaft sliding joints have a small amount of slop in them, as do, I guess, the 2cv joints. because the brakes are inboard I always assumed this was why any movement or play in any component between the wheel and the brake will allow the car to move slightly when the brakes are on.

Re: Still rocking. The shock absorbers are new ones Lipmesa correctly fitted.
No batteurs for me or friction dampers.
worn buffers on the floating suspension cans (What do you mean?)
Can it be the driveshafts? The rear brakes have no play afterall...

Re: Still rocking. the interlinked suspension that the 2cv is famous for? the fact that when the front wheels push up they pull the suspension forward and raise the rear so the whole car lifts and settles rather that pitching up at the front the dropping and pitching at the rear.
i set my car up with the maximum cleasrance of the buiffers on the suspension can and as you stop it feels like the chassis slides forward and back - thats not what actually happens it just what it feels like.
you have fittted your brand new shocks the right way round and the right way up?

Is there so much compliance in the rubber canister rings?
I 'll check it with some chalk marks.
How much clearance do you mean?
Haynes dictates some 2mm only for the rear.

It was from the play in the driveshafts.
