Re: Show us your speedo.
I'm not being critical Jonathan - I would just like to be able to get my speedo closer to the correct reading!

Re: Show us your speedo.
S'ok, didn't even cross me mind I doubt you'll get the speedo to be accurate, even modern cars aren't absolutely spot-on.

Re: Show us your speedo.
I tested the 2CV against my GPS the other day, it's surprisingly close. About +1mph showing across the range. indicated 70 was 69 on tomtom. The C5 is spot on - the speedo is larger though so the dots for the figures are a little larger. My fiat is about 5mph out at 70.

Re: Show us your speedo.
The Beige Beasts speedo is spot on to the GPS reading - 75=75 even with 135's on the rims. It seems that most modern cars over read the true speed - my Merc over reads by around 3/4mph and her indoors Swift is around 2/3mph out. I have read somewhere that in Italy they made the speedos deliberately over read as the Italians always like to feel they are going fast!

April 1982: My first Dyane hits 40,000 on the way home from walking round the Isle of Wight (me, that is, not the Dyane).

Re: Show us your speedo.
OK, it may not seem much, but given that 100kph on the speedo equates to almost 70mph on the satnav, I thought this was worthy of a post: picture taken on the M6(N), on the downhill section between Corley Services and J3A

Re: Show us your speedo.
I have to say I'm somewhat concerned about the practice of clearly use a mobile phone to take a shot of your speedo.Apart from the offence of using a mobile whilst driving you're in the realms of at least careless driving. I have scraped to many people up after road accidents to condone such things.Come folks lets except that speedos by design read high, also that satnavs can lag behind a little.More to the point lets drive our great cars with a little more common sense please
