This could develop into an "I'm older than you" thread I guess

I hope not, the point i was trying to make is that young drivers feel hard done to, but everthing is relative, my first car cost me £400 but the insurance was £250, my son who is 21 bought a 5 grand car and the insurance was £1600.

When I was 18 I was paying £2500 to insure a car I paid £350 for, but it was worth it, because I was mobile, and because my car was faster than all my mates, which is very important.

Everybody, especially young lads, smashes their first car up. It's like a rite of passage. If you can get to 21 without one serious RTA under your belt you're probably a bit of a gay.

Or a good driver and not a twat.

which is why young male driver insurance premiums are so high. As regards RTA's, it depends on what you class as serious? And i'd rather be classed as gay than dead or seriously injured, but each to their own.

Between 17-21, a serious RTA is one where your parents find out.

I've had one serious RTA when I was 21, but it wasn't my fault. Does that count?

Currently 18yrs NC.

Ok thinking about it it's probably true, cos I know three people, all who passed after me last year have already written off their car. On the other hand, I'm driving a 20 year old tin can with an actual lawn mower engine and tbh there's not a lot of damage I could really do with it really. Obviously this isn't at all taken into account so its a mega pisser, but I reckons we should all simmer down. Yes, its outrageous, but I've got other shit to worry about really. When it comes down to it, if you can't/aren't prepared to pay, pipe down and get the 'kin bus innit.
