you'd done such a neat, almost surgical, job of slicing the piston in half that it took me a while to realise just what I was looking at...
Is that the end of the crankshaft, or can the little end bush be replaced and off you go again?

I've got to sort out the cam chain on my son's XL125 before selling it, very tempted to use the 'redneck' trick shown on Youtube to save time.

You should know to expect nothing less from me . The engine had been in that condition for about 12 years, because I couldn't think of a way to dismantle it without destroying the piston, which was scuffed but just about usable. It somehow felt like destroying it neatly wasn't so bad. Getting a new con-rod kit fitted should be about £50-60, but I'm watching ebay for a spare crank. I might also ask the machine shop about fitting a new bush, but never gone that route before.
