 Re: Leboncoin/eBay finds
I've been to the workshop where these are being made, really interesting idea and kit and I get what the builder is trying to do, uses every bit of a 2cv apart from the shell (thats why I went to see him) I know some of you on here will not like the idea, but it is still a 2cv at heart and for those that like this type of thing a whole lot of fun.

Yep Mike is a great guy and must admit they are fun to drive!, had a go in the last one that he posted on e-bay that was his first car built, Just like driving a 2cv convertable. And as a bonus I ended up with a spare bonnet, A Panels, wiper motor unit, front seats, dash, mirror, boot lid, service & owners manuals in fact so much stuff had trouble fitting it all in my car!

 Re: Leboncoin/eBay finds
I wasn't poking fun at it - I think it's an interesting project, but to me the seating position looked a little odd.
The craftsmanship that has gone into the body looks really impressive to me.

 Re: Leboncoin/eBay finds
Yes the seating position in the one I drove was all wrong for me, seat was to far back to allow me to push the pedals fully down and must admit you slid from side to side when cornering but it was his prototype and set up for him (he is much taller than me) but the seats are fully adjustable on the frame work (custom set for owner) all the panels are cut from flat sheet with templates and hand formed to shape.
Re the steering the idea of the kit is to use as much of a 2CV as possible without need for complex changes, The tubular frame can be put on the chassis once the old tub is removed without even needing to bleed the brakes!!. But the first prototype has had a UJ fitted but Mike is trying to avoid this in later kits so that the "Novice" can assemble it with-out the need for enginnering skills.

Hideous. This is a 1930's sports car: That thing looks like my wheelbarrow. What was so bad about the 2cv shell? Aaaaaaagh. Why do people continually think this sort of thing is better?

 Re: Leboncoin/eBay finds
I wish people would spend a little more time and their skillz. transforming, I dunno something like an old daewoo mitwtiz into summat '1930s sports car '...... hell even I'm begining to believe I could weld a few old filing cabinets, tin cans and old computer cases together and bolt it on to a chassis and hope that some descriptive words make it something it's not! It might be fun to run around a field with a saucepan on my head but it doesn't actually make me a knight!

Yes that 2CV kit is a bit of a munter, but it's a bloody masterpiece compared with this baby: Attachment:
