Nah. We can't wait 2 months for a read. I get withdrawal symptoms at about 27 days.

And a change in format size will probably cost more in postage although that maybe negated by issuing every 2 months.

I do prefer the existing convenient size. Easy to put in your pocket for a read when you are waiting for your loved one in the hairdressers etc.

yep postage would be an issue - to be honest I don't think they'd do it. What I would like to see us an annual 'bumper summer issue' or something.

There will be more racing no worries.

Can I suggest you all start drafting technical articles now :D

To disagree with the posts above, I think a bi-monthly A4 but high quality mag sounds a good idea, if not entirely plausible with views as they appear to be... With forums like this the idea of keeping people up-to-date is a little bit odd (especially given lead times).

I allowed my membership to lapse years ago, when editors became so infatuated with the PC-easy format they forgot that content mattered as much as (if not more than?) a colourful, highly pictorial, well laid out format - when, coincidentally, cosmetically shiny cars seemed to become the goal.

Allowing the blanket coverage of 2CV *ity advertising (if this is the case) demonstrates just how little real spirit/balls the club has today. The American capitalist business model has long tentacles!

From reading some posts on this forum perhaps a little on the clever engineering of the wee Citroen from the likes of Ken H and other luminaries would be a good idea, just so people actually appreaciate what they own, if not why they own it!

Racing 2CVs around tarmac tracks is about as far from the point of the cars as imaginable, but if that's what they want, then go for it. The whole point of motor racing for the 'general pubic' is that affordable improvements to everyday cars become available and I hope this is the case with 2CV racing.

One of the discussions we had tonight was wether to totally abandon technical stuff. It's so easy to get it online, whats the point?

Not everyone has access to stuff online and you can take the magazine out to the garage when working on the car - that would be a little more difficult if you had to lug your PC out to the workshop...

Also, having a monthly magazine in such a handy size makes it ideal to hand out to my work colleagues (three of them; one an ex-2CVer, one a classic car fan &sometime caretaker of one of my cars, and the third just a fan of quality mags) They think it's great! :D

Good point. Easier to read a magazine on the bog, too.

Don't think that's a good idea the magazine becomes a repository as most people seem to keep the magazines whereas websites change servers and the info gets lost in all the other stuff that ends up on the threads

A trawl through some of the technical threads with the differing opinions and a summary of the main points in the mag could make good reading.

Quite a few of the readership never go anywhere near the forum

its quite good to let people know that there are bits on the car that need regular attention and if you start filling the mag with stories about "Fifi the dreg D*lly" ill personally come round and stick the mag and kittens where the sun don't shine!

Good luck Sam and try to enjoy it :)

I would love to see a more varied mag as it's getting quite stagnant these days. Of course you can only publish what you get etc etc 2cv racing, 2cv cross, technical articles, people profiles, notes from the archives.. All would be great in my opinion. There's so much more out there than pooltling about in Fifi... Just need to look in one of the French mags to realise that.

May even spur me on to send you some raid and 4x4 articles stuff of me own...

This, I think, would be an excellent idea. :)

I think part of your problem is that everybody would like the magazine to reflect what they personally get from the club - and everybody's different. I like tinkering with my car, so I'd like to see a bit more technical stuff. I also enjoy pratting around in fields and pubs with my mates, so a bit more social stuff would be good for me - maybe *brief* reports of camps etc? Makes first-timers feel even more welcome if they get a mention, whets the appetites of those who weren't able to go, and hopefully would encourage more people to come along. And definitely more humour for me, as well. Although it does need to be *friendly* humour...

I was editor of the monthly magazine for a motorcycle club for 6 years. The club only had 750 members, and the magazine was a black & white 24-page A4 publication (although I did manage to introduce colour for some editions) so it wasn't quite as daunting as what you're about to take on! Although I liked the long 'feature' articles, the best reading from my point of view came from the short articles and letters. The 1 or 2 paragraph entries which people were able to type out and send fairly quickly, without labouring over them. More of those meant a lot more individuals contributing to the magazine, meaning there were a lot more viewpoints represented, and there was more to prompt people to write in and reply.

...That was the theory anyway!

Good on you for taking it on, Sam!

Please do! I will hold you to that! :D

Cheers Luke, that's encouraging.

I love the way this thread is going, it's giving me lots of inspiration, thank you
