That guy was amazing. The car was as rotten as a pear. One evening we walked past & he had all the front panel work off & the engine out - the next day he had another engine in minus the cooling shrouds/tinware... The following day the engine was still minus loads of bits & with the panels strewn around the area & the owner was sat behind the steering wheel casually working through a crossword! Brilliant!

Its was quite rotten yes.. Many people were surprised that my car had made it... But with this car a few meters down the road they were even more surprised ;)

He started Wednesday-morning at 6h, with dismantling the front of the car.. And always many people gathering round him, and he kept on spannering on the car, with a basic tool kit.

The "new" engine had one of its spark plugs stuck in the head, but came loose when my dad borrowed him his tools. The insulator and electrodes were completely missing, on both plugs.
They engine looked liked is had been stored in a damp garage or something, it was very oxidized.

When he was ready to start the car, it wouldn't work, due to a bad battery... After some starting, the starter motor began to smoke, and also the cables got very hot..

Punky and me were watching all this, and it came to our mind the fuelpump was faulty because there was no smell of pertol, nor a load of fuel under de manifold.. The belgium guy working on the car together with the owner kept on believing it was a ignition/coil problem.
Punky and me still saying that there wasn't any fuel getting to the carb, but because we don't have grey hair, and aren't 50 years old, they didn't listen to us..

After a while punky said it directly to the owner and he started to change the pump.. Then it took some time, but eventually the car started..

Also had some fun watching a guy from portugal changing his doorlocks... Took him 1,5h on a pace that was really boring.. I would have done it in less than 5 minutes ;)

I have to admit, this guy made it for me !....totally bonkers and yet real good fun. I kept watching him and it was amazing to see so much madness under one bonnet !

When washing up nearby I heard a big bang and a huge plume of smoke....an hour later he was taking it all apart again and then when I walked by he was fast asleep as per the picture !

Had an absolutely fantastic time, no complaints at all. Wonderful weather, great location, all my mates in one place. Just amazing. 1275 miles all round, car went beautifully.

Photos to follow.

I love boat.

Yup. The flea market seemed to be the size of a small village, and I saw several piles of quillery wheels, mostly for no more than 40 euros. Just thought I'd let you know that amazing piece of information. ;)
