If you're changing the rear brake cylinders - which is a good idea, while you're in there, since they're not expensive - you might also need to change the rear brake pipes as well. The union at the cylinder end often rusts up to the point where it's difficult to get the pipe out without breaking it.

dont the pipes go up the axel in a higgaldy piggaldy motion? after going up the swing arm? i dont fancy changing the brake pipes in the axel, is there a join before there? i was considering it but i didnt want to open up some more worms..

That's right. They're a bit of a bugger to change. You might not need to change them, but it's worth having a look at them before you start removing brake cylinders since if they're rusty you'll break them when you undo the cylinder union. In fact, if they're rusty, they need replacing anyway ... :)
