That's the slag engine built up ready to "slot in" to Jonathans car tomorrow evening. Once I've fitted the clutch fork etc back onto the gearbox......   I'm quite sure Jonathan will keep you all updated on progress as I'm planning on hibernating for a while after this-I'm about knackered!

Used the car to go up to Kidderminster for a training day, today. Gave a lift to a couple of work colleagues but the handling was rather scary at times with very bad under-steer  Turned out to be a rather under inflated front near-side tyre. Pumped it up to 20psi and it has good handling again.

Used the 2CV today for pretty much the first time since the replacement engine was dropped in last Wednesday. It's pretty good but I really should fit the dump tubes in the morning as it kept cutting out on almost every junction and took a fair bit of effort to restart(I'm guessing it's due to excessive heat build up under the bonnet causing fuel evaporation). Will let you all know how I get on.

Don't think it will be fuel evaporation. More likely dodgy coil.

Was fine with original engine, so can't see why it(the coil) would start playing up with another engine fitted. Spanners will be dismantling the original 205 thousand mile engine soon and looking to see what needs replacing before it's refitted to its rightful place(sometime over the winter). I'll fit the dump tubes tomorrow and see if that helps at all.
