 Re: My 2cv
There was plenty of free play in the original one Ken, it did last at least 135 thousand miles. I will keep an eye on it though.

Will be leaving the house shortly and heading to Bristol via Welsh Wales and Pont Hafren(Severn Bridge).

 Re: My 2cv
Since replacing the hood two years ago the tab above the rear window has been lose , so I spent half an hour this afternoon fiddling with the hood and getting it fitted correctly. I then went for a bike ride and whilst out on that I thought I'd come back and try fitting the hatch-back conversion that I had fitted to the previous hood(when I bought and originally fitted the current hood I couldn't get the conversion to fit, no matter what I tried), well, after removing the hood completely from the car I discovered that the nuts/bolts/screws/fittings for the conversion were missing so I've refitted the hood (correctly) and will source the right type fittings soon and give it another go.

Jonathan, I was going on how deeply gouged the diaphragm fingers were on your old pressure plate. Don't recall ever seeing one as bad, which suggests that at some point in its life there was little or no free play... ken Jonathan wrote: There was plenty of free play in the original one Ken, it did last at least 135 thousand miles. Re: My 2cv
Could that be caused by riding the clutch? Wouldn't that negate any free play it had?

 Re: My 2cv
Ah, could have been. Perhaps 'Spanners' can throw a bit more light on it when he returns from French France. I'm not prone from riding the clutch Russ, far too uncomfortable for starters

 Re: My 2cv
Just about to leave the house and head down to the Ace Cafe for my very first 2CV Cockneyville to Brighton Run. Stopping at services for breakfast en route.

 Re: My 2cv
Oh Dear, after tens of thousands of fairly trouble free/cheap motoring, all my bad eggs appear to have hatched together As some of you who went to L2B will know, I've had some issues with my recently fitted new clutch(basically, it's not working) and it was a bit of a nightmare getting through Cockneyville. When I got down to the M25 I popped on that and the M23/A23 to get down to Gayville in stead of using back roads. The engine has also given me some grief at times, with power loss and coughing/ almost stalling at intervals Coming up the A44 in Worcestershire this evening I hit an unavoidable pothole(nothing too big really) and the car started shuddering crazily(had to slow it down a fair bit to regain control), so that's a kingpin shot by the feel of it(off side one, I'd say). So what with the engine smoking like a good un on start up and all the above(plus truly crap brakes atm), 2011 is shaping up to be a perfect financial storm. Oh well, was going to happen some time I suppose (just booked annual leave for Salbri a few days ago, so that's been well and truly blown out of the water and sunk. C'est la Vie.
