Post Noise from clutch.
Been getting a grating noise when clutch pedal is down, was quite infrequent but since returning from Scotland a few days ago it has got worse and very much more so today, it's very noisy and I'm now experiencing difficulty in selecting gears(not all the time). I'm guessing the clutch release bearing is fubarred so I need to replace the clutch and bearing, but in the mean time can I get a bit of adjustment out of the mechanism to last a little bit longer? I've only done 134 thousand miles(car was on 70 thousand when bought and I'm assuming it had a new clutch not long before I bought it).

Jonathan,
I'd reckon you've probably had your money's worth out of that clutch. ;)
As long as you've got the correct amount of free play at the clutch pedal ( 20mm to 25mm), there's nothing to be gained by adjustment.

As an aside, have you checked that the lower engine to gearbox nuts are in place and tight?
It does seem a little strange that you're having difficulty selecting gears and there's also that unusual noise... :?

Thanks Ken, I'll take a look at those nuts on Monday. I've got three 12hr shifts to endure between now and then, so the 2CV can stay locked away in the garage till then.
