I "think" the red changed in late '82 from AC 442 rouge de castille to AC 448 rouge vallelunga

It did, but mine's a rouge de castille and it's quite a different colour.

The shades of the paints are referred to by three digit codes, such as EKB. So to get the right shade of sunrise red you need the AC code and this extra 3 digit shade code.

She is Sunrise red, but there were two or three different shades used over the years. The same thing happened with alpine white and sky blue, amongst others, but it's most noticeable with the red.

Brilliant! Thanks, Jono. That's answered it. All the paint charts I've seen say either Rouge Castille (which she blatantly isn't) or Rouge Vallelunga (which I think I recall Will telling me she is), but I just couldn't work out why she's *slightly* different to all the others I've seen. That would explain it perfectly. :D

It did. AC 442 is also GKB and EKB.

If I'm not completely wrong, the AC-"three digits" codes was replaced by the three letter codes. As a result, older cars will have an AC"000", and newer cars will have three digits. Like GKB = Red Vallelunga.

The change from AC to three letters happened in the early 80's. Not sure when, anybody know?

I like Orange Mandarine, a shame it only lasted a year.
