my question is, so its possible to sleep in a 2cv if you loose the rear seats, and a bootbox on the back, how wide a air matress could i get? if anyone has had the same stupid idea as me what did you do???

Length's the problem, not width. And a VERY high chance of puncturing an airbed on a sharp bit.

You could cut some wood to make the floor totally flat aft of the rear seats. How tall are you?

Get over the tentphobia, or buy a van.

I considered doing this once upon a time.

Getting a pop-up tent is WAY easier.

Ive considered it too. But I love my tent. And now I have a van. If your beds in the back, where will you put your stuff?

It can be done just get a foam mattress to sleep on boot box on the back, it what all the hells en deuche guys do.
Make a wood boot floor so its flush then make some boxes for the rear foot wells to level it off.

Lidl had little tents for £17, got one as the kids will want their own tent

im with Viking did a few camps and just used my bivvi bag(gortex cover for the sleeping bag) and slept by the car tents only of any use if your in one place for a few days

however thais trip to salbris will see the canvas ballroom and the polypropolyne banqueting hall as well as the £17 Lidl annex
